General Commentary and Game Overview
Time to put on our hypocrite pants, kiddies.

I was really looking for the bright side for this game, it looked really nice, the monologue at the beginning was okay, but here comes Mr. Hypocrite coming down the tracks. Wait... what is this? Where's Mario? What the heck? Okay, I press shift... Oh, Mario is in a cage.
Could this part be explained please?
 
Pros For one, I really like the music.
For two, I really like the fireball effect. I guess.
 
Cons -The controls aren't explained in the beginning, you'll be playing with your keyboard in hopes of jumping the first time, and then you finally figure out Control is Run and Shift is Jump. If you missed the description, that is.
-You really feel like you're playing a Donkey Kong Country game. Ships, canons, music, it made me feel like Diddy should've been following me.
-The control is slippery at times, and during precision jumps, I always find myself over jumping. When I do land, I usually end up slipping off the edge in hopes of pressing Shift before this happens.

Generic Mario game with DKC aspects thrown in. You run, jump, smash enemies faces in, collect coins, get powerups, yadda yadda.
The game would be magnificent if you wouldn't slide around and if the jumping wasn't so akward. This ultimately makes me feel like I'm playing the Ice Caves levels in DKC. Really, this game feels too much like a DKC game, aformentioned in the Cons section. The canon aspect was original for a Mario game, although it feels like you have a bit too much free range when shot. The first time going through one, I thought "Oh, nea- wait why did I miss that platform? Okay, why did I not get the coins... Eh? I got hit? What the heck?" The second time you fly through one of these, you're doomed to failure unless you KNOW you have to press Up to get it. I thought it would be a cool DKC-esque "Hey we're gonna give you a set path kthxlol", but I was doomed to failure untill I found myself bashing my head unto the keyboard and figured out D00D U GOTTA GO UP. Would really be nice to have known that.

Amazing fireball effects, great sprites, and a cool pulse effect when you pick up a coin. There really isn't much else to say other than great work.
 
Sound

Ah! My favorite DKC theme! Huh, that's kind of odd, its too soft. Mario's jumping sound really masks out the music.

Basically, I loved the choice of music, but its waaayyy too soft and the sound effects drown it out so I can't actually enjoy it.

I like the game, but you slipping around and the weird jumping mechanics makes me want to play this game once, and permanently delete it from my hard-drive. Hypocrite pants are still on.

A great idea. Original to a Mario fangame, but this really needs a bug-check before I give it a higher score.

This is actually a good review. Rest assured, several problems will be fixed with the new engine.
