General Commentary and Game Overview
With things being said like "a perfect fangame" and "one of the best platformers on this entire site" I apparently have "0 excuses not to play it at least once" So, I did.

Pros Decent engine.
Nice replay value ideas.
Interesting setup.
Good boss battles.

Cons Graphics are horribly mixed.
Annoying engine glitches.
Somewhat questionable music choices.
All the levels felt the same.

Gameplay
5 / 10
According to others, this "Godly" engine is what makes the game. I have to say I'm surprised, as I didn't really find it that enjoyable. The Mario engine had the basic elements in it but overall it felt lacking. It felt stiff and more like a Games Factory built in movement then anything else. Several things such as running and power ups are noticeably absent, and are missed.
The level design is also another supposed highlight of the game and again I feel so-so about it. I do like all the different puzzles that Hatman has managed to cram in but after awhile it got boring. All the levels started to feel the same and no world felt completely different from the others.
The overall layout of the game IS nice and I like the idea of worlds. Now if only each level had something that made it more different from the others I’d be more happy.
All in all the game just didn’t feel like a true Mario game to me.

Graphics
6 / 10
For the most part the game seemed in a nice Super Mario Bros. 3 type sprite style, but then a few Mario & Luigi/Yoshi Island sprites crept in and looked completely out of place.

Sound
7 / 10
A collection of MIDIs that do the trick, though some were much better choices then others.

Replay
8 / 10
From what I can see it seemed to have some nice rewards. The thing is, it just didn't keep me going enough to shoot for them. After awhile I got bored with the puzzle after puzzle layout and quit.

Final Words
7 / 10
With words like "Godly" and "Perfect Fangame" thrown around I can only say I felt let down when playing this game. The game is decent and clearly a lot of hard work was put into it, but it has its faults. The engine felt foreign and lacked several basic Mario skills. Overall, the game just felt like a big collection of puzzles then anything else. But don’t let me steer you wrong, this is still a good game and deserves a try or two.

I see why you didn't like it. The fact that it had more level variety than almost any Mario game was one reason it was so popular. (I think) Also, it's a Game Maker engine, if that part on gameplay wasn't a typo.
