Did you make the engine? Or is it premade?

Premade, but I made use of its physics in a way in which Somari was actually able to interact with drawn terrain

There is sound, press F3. (Since this review is like about 6 yrs old you probably don't want install it again, if you don't have it anymore, of course)

Nevertheless, sound shouldn't have to be activated.

Lets see...

58.1 (All of KoopaKingdom's game scores)
- 1.7 (Your SML remake score)
------
56.4

You are wrong. The game alone has a higher score than your SML remake. (2.8 > 1.7)
(Yea I know you're probably joking since you think KK makes the worst games on this site)

Why are you bringing one of my old and hideous submissions into this totally unrelated subject? And that's absolutely not how review scores work.

"This game is better than Paper Mario Sticker Star."

No. No.

I understand you're new here, but an opinion is an opinion. Unless you have some real input, you're better off just not commenting on reviews I have long put out.

Jack, I know that game was abandoned two years ago.
But My honest opinion is Somari 2 is poor.
I tried to get pass zone 1 but there one problem..
There Grass glitch is everywhere. I tried to get pass it but I died... This fangame has to be fixed.
Even the levels you just make is terrible. I fell really sad for you. If you make changes to remake Somari 2 try use Game maker pro, Game maker Studios, or other game created software.

I'm really sorry Jack but truth really hurts.
It was my honest opinion.. Sorry :(

This IS made in Game Maker Pro.

I actually think this has potential. You should make a sequel to this. Or maybe a spiritual successor. And fix the problems other people pointed out.

Tempting. But I can't say for sure, especially since I dried out on this one.

It's an inside joke of walruses being a high and mighty entity to MFGG.

I'm just saying that the point has already been made clear by dozens of people and that anyone else looking to review this should at least bring something new to the table. It would also help if they weren't attempting (and failing) to troll other members.

Yep....No wanting to upset the walrus...

Ok First of all nice game you got there.
Second of all This game really needs a good
designing.

There tons a bugs that needed fixing.
Graphics are poor
Gameplay Good

I like your game but it need more level designing

Alot Bugs need to be fixs

And finally do your very best to make this fangame better!

My honest Opinion I beg you good luck. Jack of All games.

Well, this was abandoned two years ago. I only decided to add an ending to it and bring it back from the dead just for fun. I wouldn't expect updates to it.

Fair enough. I probably should have positioned the camera view even further to Somari's direction to see enemies/obstacles ahead easier.
But no, I do know about Somari's origins. I just wanted to do it differently.

This review's kinda hard to read. I get the spring part (Although not necessarily the "only complaint" phrase attached to it), but is the level design generic or poor and confusing?

Also, I wouldn't expect insult comments to be taken on a positive note.

The physics are very good, but the game is rendered difficult to play due to poor level design. The level graphics are rather primitive and unpleasant. I get you want to use custom graphics for the levels, and power to you, but you should really compile and use some sort of a tileset in that case. I also do not understand the purpose of the edited Somari sprites. Is this supposed to be some sort of original character? The original Somari character would work just as well and make more sense.

When I realized I could draw levels and put them in as such, I pretty much ran with it.

Then make the title screen in a different resolution.

I would have, but the graphics for the title screen were already created, and making them smaller would scrunch up the whole look of it. I simply didn't want to do that.

I played from the first stage to the cheese level act 2. I couldn't go further because every level has invisible sections. Yeah, there are invisible sections in every level. Some are covered by what at first appears to be just a normal flat terrain, and I was just running through slopes that I couldn't even see.
I hope that's not intentional... I need an answer...

Indeed it isn't intentional. I'm not quite sure what it is that causes the game to do that...And even weirder is that no matter what computer I've played the game on, I don't experience that glitch, yet I know a couple other people out there may have. I don't get it.

Maybe you could try again by exiting the game and loading your file. Hopefully the terrain would be fixed.
Quote (Friendly Dictator on Oct 2 2015, 1:36 PM)
don't force full screen please

I did this because the title screen was made in a different resolution than the game itself, and I didn't want the game to be shown switching from a large window to a much smaller window.

So I have a question...
Is shift suppose to let you skip levels? Because I just finished the game in 15 seconds

Must be a debug leftover..........
.........Oops.

I guess I was stretching it a bit, but I felt like this wasn't a blatant copy of some crappy game (even if it is crappy itself) and it ends quickly, so the pain is over before anyone would know it.

But then again, I could simply be talking out of my mind.....Who knows....Not even I do at this point.
I'll just step away from this Mario Tails nonsense once and for all.

There's nothing wrong with an opinion and there are a few points that I agree with you on. However, everyone seems to over-exaggerate how "bad" this game is.
This is part of the reason I don't really come here often. I don't really like the community. Rather than provide criticism that's actually constructive, everyone always has to make a list of "complaints" if we can call them that in a form that's not pleasant to read.

It's not just how bad the game is. It's how bad Hello's attitude is, as now I'm able to criticize THAT considering the game's centered around it. And the fact it took 10 years for this to exist.
