General Commentary and Game Overview
Yoshi vs. Windows Platinum, at first glance, looks like a good game. It really could've been, actually. I was expecting to like it, since the reviews were... mostly positive.

However... I didn't. Unfortunately.

I just know I'll probably get lots of posts hating my opinion making skills.

Pros + The concept is original, in a sense
+ How often is there a Yoshi game?

Cons - Bugs are incredible; ever hear of collision masks, buddy?
- Yoshi jumps way too low
- There's a sprite glitch here or there
- "Defeat all enemies to advance!" type levels are the most boring levels ever
- The third level is buggier than a summer morning in Montana wilderness

Impressions
Gameplay
2 / 10
Engine, concept, and execution; this all factors into the Gameplay section, and frankly, only the concept is worth writing home about.

The concept is simple. Yoshi must save the world from Bill Gates and his evil Windows of pane (lol c wut i did thar). The concept is original.

The engine, however, exhudes the quality you can expect from a 50 year old car. It's horribly buggy. It is clear to me that this person (or persons) have never heard of collision masks... somehow. There is consistent "presise collision checking." For those not fluent with game-geek-speak, that just means that if the pixels aren't touching, it ain't touching.

This wouldn't have been a bad thing, if it weren't that every object has a ton of edges, corners and curves. Yoshi's sprite is so irregular that if you don't have imprecise checking, there's bound to be trouble. The letters, bumpy rides. I got stuck on regular occasions.

Also, is it me, or does Yoshi jump extremely low? It's Yoshi, he should jump much higher than that.

Wait, I'm not done yet. Execution time.

Now, if it were a classic "la-di-da to the goal" thing, I would've been okay, Gameplay would've gotten a six, and we'd all be happy. Not this time. It's a painful "kill all the enemies to find the toasters" kinda thing.

Ever play Sonic 3D Blast? It used the same idea. It sucked too.

Because the execution is just horrible, I decked the grade considerably.

Graphics
7 / 10
Well, there's bound to be SOME mismatching. I always exempt this score from the average, especially in this case, since it's apparent there will be mismatching. A seven, just because the DOS level is cool-lookin'.

Sound
6 / 10
Unfortunately, however they made the music work, my computer no likey. So, uh, I can't really give this a fair grade. But, the sounds I did hear (if any) weren't exactly... awesome. A six, mainly because I couldn't hear the music, and therefore couldn't grade it as such.

Replay
1 / 10
Hardly any replay value comes from a game with so many bugs it's horrendous.

Final Words
3 / 10
Warning, we've reached a conflicting opinion! I don't like this game!
